YEAR 2

Year Two students have worked really hard throughout the term to achieve some success. Year Two curriculum is a huge jump as compared to what they learn in Year 1. All students tried their best!

In English, students focused on writing recounts and information reports using paragraphs. They learnt about nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs and punctuation. Spelling, reading and comprehension was our focus every week.

In Maths, they covered different topics like number and place value, addition and subtraction, chance, measuring length and area.

During STEM sessions, they planned, designed and completed a few construction projects. They waited eagerly to do their weekly Visual Art, Performing Art and P.E lessons.

I have sent holiday homework with students which is based on topics covered during the term. I have also assigned Reading Eggs and Mathletics activities to all students to complete. Please encourage them to do their homework during the three weeks holiday.

Please encourage students to read lots of books during the break. They can choose books of their interest from Reading Eggs Library if they don’t have access to actual hard copy books. Always discuss what they have read and ask questions to check their understanding. Reading aloud to an adult is really important at this stage to develop confidence and correct reading skills.

‘Stay at Home Packs’ were distributed to parents this week, keeping in mind if schools do not open normally in Term 2 because of Corona Virus threat. This work is planned for Term 2. Please do not touch these packs until 14th of April which is our first day of school in Term 2. These packs need to come back to school when school reopens.

Take care, stay safe and enjoy your term break!
